Monthly Workshop: Restless Exhaustion & Sustainable Balance
Feeling exhausted even after rest days? This 60-minute workshop will help you understand the science behind restless exhaustion and give you practical tools to regulate your nervous system.
Guest Expert: Restless Exhaustion with Jen Kates (she/her), CHC, CPT, PPSC
This month, we're diving deep into one of the most common struggles for high-achieving athletes: restless exhaustion. You know the feeling—you're physically depleted but mentally wired, too tired to train well but too anxious to truly rest.
To help us navigate this territory, we're bringing in Jen Kates, an expert in nervous system regulation, boundary-setting, and helping high-performers break free from the "rest is something you earn" mindset.
Monthly Workshop: HRV Training
Interactive 60-minute workshop on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and nervous system regulation. Learn what HRV is, why it matters for performance, and how to track your resting HRV to inform training decisions.
Bonus Roundtable: Coaching Practices for Neurodivergent Athletes
Our very own Avery Nelson will be providing a bonus roundtable to provide some insights regarding coaching for neurodivergent athletes. All are welcome to attend.
Guest Expert: HRV Training with Dr. Tim Herzog
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures how adaptable your nervous system is. Higher HRV means your body can shift gears smoothly between effort and recovery. Lower HRV means you're stuck in one mode—grinding gears when you need to adapt. This month, we're addressing that.
To help us navigate this territory, we're bringing in Dr. Tim Herzog, Board Certified in Biofeedback and an expert in Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training for athletes and high-performers.
Monthly Workshop: Unpacking Body Image & Diet Culture
Can we talk about how you can crush a race and still hate how you look in the finisher's photo?
You live in a body. You train it, push it, rely on it. But if you're honest, you probably spend more time evaluating it (or simply not paying attention to it) than experiencing it.
This is what researcher Neva Piran calls disrupted embodiment. It happens when you lose connection to your body's wisdom, when you view yourself through others' eyes instead of experiencing yourself from the inside out.
In this workshop, you'll:
Learn the 5 dimensions of embodiment (and where you are on your journey)
Understand the social forces that disrupted your embodiment (spoiler: it's not your fault)
Create your personal Embodiment Map
Unpack what you've lost (and think about what you can reclaim)
This workshop is for you if:
You look at race photos and immediately critique your body instead of celebrating what it accomplished
You ignore your body's signals for rest, food, or recovery because you "should" keep training
You feel like your body isn't fully yours but something to be judged by others
You've lost touch with what you actually want or need
What to expect:
This is a working session. We'll teach the framework, then you'll create your own Embodiment Map to identify where you experience connection (and where you've lost it). Come ready to reflect, share (to the extent that you feel safe doing so), and begin reconnecting with your body in ways you haven't considered before.
Format: Cameras on for engagement, please! Guided reflection/working time. Time for Q&A, as always.
Content note: This workshop discusses embodiment, body image, objectification, and systems of oppression. Some content may bring up difficult thoughts or feelings. You have FULL permission to pass, modify, or take breaks (for this event and for ALL Skadi events).
What you'll walk or roll away with:
Your personal Embodiment Map across 5 dimensions
Language for what you've been experiencing but couldn't name
The first step in your 4-week Embodiment Journey challenge
A framework for reclaiming a healthy relationship with your body
Guest Expert: Body Liberation with Chrissy King
For November's theme, we're diving deep into one of the most powerful (and misunderstood) concepts in athlete wellness: body liberation. If you've ever criticized yourself in race photos, ignored your body's signals for rest, or felt like your worth is tied to your performance or appearance—this session is for you.
